In the words of Jeremy Clarkson of Clarkson’s Farm TV series on Amazon, ‘I’ve done a thing’. He often says this when completing something he’s never done before whilst being so proud to have achieved it. This could be anything from helping a sheep give birth to building a wildlife area on his farm. He’s done a thing, and he’s proud of it.
We should all be proud of the things we achieve, no matter how long it takes us.
I love that program and am looking forward to the next series. It is said the program has done more to highlight the highs and lows of farming than any other farming program. It has certainly made me appreciate where my food comes from and how it is grown, especially the flour I use in my baking. It has especially highlighted how dreadfully difficult farming can be here in the UK.
I am constantly thinking of new things to do. So, I have decided once again to see if the proverbial spaghetti will stick to the wall. It worked back in the day with Clandestine Cake Club, The Secret Tearoom, and several food blogs that I created, so why not here again on Substack? It’s a medium that people seem to be flocking to, including many food writers and bloggers. Yes, I know, it’s another platform. But you can learn so much from the writers on here; it’s ad-free, and most of it is not behind a paywall.
I have set up another Substack publication called FoodStack Library. It is a list, if you will, of food writers, food bloggers, recipe creators, and any Substack publication that writes about food.
The idea came when I saw
set up his new publication a library for publications with fewer than 1k subscribers. I wanted to create something similar for those writing about food regardless of the number of subscribers.I also wanted to make it easier for you, the reader, to discover new food-related publications and for those publishers to reach a new audience.
My time on Substack is purely a hobby for me. As a food writer and blogger, I want to do what I can to help, support and connect this community of like-minded people through the medium of food.
If you are a food blogger and want to be listed, please complete this form. If you simply want to discover other publications to read, click the button below.
Come over and introduce yourself. I’ll hang out there for a while as I build up the list and publish a few guest posts from other writers over the coming months.
Very cool Lynn! I’ve signed up 😀
A very brilliant thing! Thanks for doing this Lynn, a great idea to help us find the others. Agree 'We should all be proud of the things we achieve, no matter how long it takes us.' I'm looking forward to seeing this grow and it will help other food writers find their voice and community.
